Tribute to Skip's Music "Video of the Day" review by Alex Cosper on May 27, 2013

This SacTV video shows Skip Maggiora's introdction speech for a special show at the Sacramento Musical Festival. The show was a celebration of Skip's Music's 40th anniversary as a music store. It featured Jeff Keith and Frank Hannon from Tesla and many other local rock stars, such as Steel Breeze, Pablo Cruise, guitarist Jeff Watson from Night Ranger and Brad Lang from Y&T. There was actually a much more extensive list if you really wanted to keep track. Other performers included Jamie Kyle, Steve Brown from Oleander and Alan Gratzer from REO Speedwagon. But the list didn't end there. Each artist performed a short 2 to 3 song set such as the performance by Steve Wall and Bawb Pearce from the Beer Dawgs or Joe Getty and the Dead Flowers. Gene Smith from 90s local rock band Kai Kln perfomed as well.

The tribute also featured last year's "Stairway to Stardom" winner, Four Days Out. Soul/funk band Mercy Me opened the show. Hosts of the show included Kitty O'Neal from KFBK, Tom Romano from Classic 93.1 and Clarlie Thomas from 96.9 The Eagle. The show took place at the Firehouse Lot. It was a unique how that presented several national hits including "You Don't Want Me Anymore" by Steel Breeze, "Little Suzi" by Tesla, "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" by Night Ranger and "What'cha Gonna Do" by Pablo Cruise. Overall, the show was a fast paced event with very little down time between acts, thanks to the hosts and how well the stage production was run.
