Chris Goslow's Eclectic Songwriting "Video of the Day" review by Alex Cosper on March 26, 2013

Chris Goslow has had a desire to create since he was a kid in the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up listening to pop, rock and many forms of contemporary music, as well as Braodway musicals and classical pieces. He has explored many styles, including hip hop, in which he took an interest about ten years ago. In this SacTV interview he explains how he gave himself permission to write hip hop, which opened the door to expressing himself in many new ways. "Actually," Chris says, "writing rap lyrics ultimately led me back to writing songs or ballads or kind of like straight lyrics." He once wrote music for a teen stage play that combined rap and opera with a message about humans saving the planet. He was attracted to rap by the cleverness of rhymes and the flexibility of expressing himself however he wanted. His 2010 CD album called Waterfall contains six songs while his next album will have eight songs, four of which will incorporate rap. He says his eclectic music is still evolving and the synergism of styles is part of his artistry.
