Navigators of Indie Music
SacTV.com "Video of the Day" review by Alex Cosper on September 17, 2012

In this SacTV.com video I explain what independent music needs to penetrate more audiences. Taking the lead from history, musical movements such as jazz and rock and roll were accelerated by independent labels, but also navigators who presented the music and steered the focus on standout material. The popularity of jazz escalated after being presented in movies while rock and roll developed through radio DJs. What indie music needs is someone like Wolfman Jack. It actually needs a series of presenters who can tell people why they should listen. It shouldn't just be a grab bag of any kind of music and it shouldn't be superficial reasons. It needs storytellers who can articulate why people should spend their time listening to indie music in an age flooded with mediocre major label music.
