SacTV.com "Video of the Day" review by

Indie bands are becoming more powerful every year with the help of new technology and social media. Michele Jennae, Editor-In-Chief of The Indie Times,
shares tips for indie bands on what they can do to improve their followings by utilizing these advancements along
with making the effort to communicate directly with fans. Michele gives advice to artists about making business decisions
through her company Influensphere. In this interview from August 15, 2012 she explains
how social media tools such as Twitter are redefining the musical landscape, allowing artists to have a closer connection
with fans. She likes Facebook, but favors Twitter for band promotion since it allows you to reach out more and find
new friends with similar interests.
Michele produces an internet radio show on HotMix106.5 Tuesdays and
Thursday mornings from 9am to 10:30am and shares indie selections with listeners around the world. A few of the
indie artists she mentions in this interview are The Junkyard Academy from San Francisco and The Kimberly Trip
from Sacramento. She says both bands capture her attention because they engage the audience with humor and
interesting lyrical songs. She believes that the artist must engage with their audience in some way, although
it does not have to be with humor. Check out an interview on Michele's background here.
