Soulmotor

Soulmotor is like a spinoff rock band of Tesla, whose bassist Brian Wheat was a founding member of both groups. His teamwork with vocalist Darin Wood from 58 Fury has been the nucleus of the band. Other members have included guitarist Tommy McClendon and Mike Vanderhule on drums. Tesla's original drummer Troy Luccketta appeared on Soulmotor's 2002 album Revolution Wheel.

Their self-titled CD album released in 1999 marked an optimistic milestone in terms of music industry recognition, followed by a series of other releases through 2011, mainly on indie labels. Their 2002 single "Shut Down" was issued by Sanctuary Records, now a division of Universal Music Group. Their earliest release was a 1992 cassette E Pluribus Oozum. Their 1998 single "Guardian Angel" was heavily featured on Sacramento's first internet radio station SacLive from 1999 to 2000. It gained terrestrial radio airplay as well, as did "Omega Son."
