Mick Martin & The Blues Rockers

Official website: Mick Martin on Wordpress

Mick Martin became a well known local figure from working on the air at freeform station KZAP in the late sixties. Then he regularly appeared on local TV as a movie critic on Bob Wilkins' show on KTXL Channel 40 in the 1970s. Over these years he gained prominence as a local blues/rock musician as well, singing and playing harmonica.

His band the Blues Rockers began releasing independent recordings in the 1990s. Mick recorded with several other well known blues musicians including Johnny Heartsman, Rick Metz, Steve Gundhi, Tim Barnes and Jerry Banks. Mick gained further notoriety as the host of his "Blues Party" radio program on KXJZ in the 2000s. The band played several high-profile festivals, including the final Sacramento Music Festival in 2015. Mick died at the age of 76 in July 2025.
