Lynn Anderson

Official website: Lynnandersonrosegarden.com

Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Lynn Anderson grew up in Carmichael and answered phones for Sacramento top 40 radio station 1240 KROY AM in the sixties. While in the area she lived on a two-acre ranch and became involved with performing at a young age. She came from a musical family that supported her dreams, so they moved Lynn to Nashville in 1965. From there she was signed at first to indie label Chart Records, but ultimately major label Columbia Records.

She began appearing on the country charts in 1966. She racked up about a dozen country hits by the time of her 1970 smash crossover pop hit, "Rose Garden" (written by Joe South). Throughout the seventies she enjoyed several number one country hits, although she didn't resurface on the pop charts. Consequently, many mainstream music fans might assume Lynn was a one-hit wonder, when she earned millions of dollars selling millions of records with several big hits on the country charts. She died in 2015 at age 67.
