Kai Kln was a hard rock band from Sacramento formed in 1989 with Gene Smith on guitar and vocals. The band was active throughout the 1990s. Other members included Sherman Loper on guitar, Scott Anderson on bass and Neil Franklin on drums. The band's name (pronounced Ky Kuln) came from a fictional warrior created by Franklin.

In 1991 they opened for Nirvana at The Crest. They developed a large enough following to headline at The Crest Theatre and sell out in the early 1990s. In 1992 they won an award at the SAMMIES at The Crest. Kai Kln reunited for Concert in the Park at Chavez Park in 2007 and 2009. They reunited again in 2018 to perform a benefit show for local concert promoter Jerry Perry.
