Jackie Greene was born in Salinas, California, but grew up near Sacramento, where he developed as a singer/songwriter and blues/rock guitarist at an early age. He attended Oak Ridge High in El Dorado Hills - a more rural and wilderness environment, just east of Sacramento. After graduating high school, Jackie began performing at local clubs such as Blue Lamp and Fox & Goose.

In 2013 Jackie joined The Black Crowes on tours as a guitarist for a few years. He has also been a member of the Grateful Dead spinoff band Phil Lesh and Friends. Jackie has released several solo albums in the 2000s. He revisits Northern California on tours, such as in 2025. As a live solo act, he has opened for established artists such as Govt Mule in 2023 and Marshall Tucker Band in 2025. Some of the biggest names he's toured with include B.B. King, Mark Knopfler, Huey Lewis and Taj Mahal.
