Read about the Sacramento Local Music Scene at Playlist Research The Features The Features were a fun pop/rock band with eclectic and new wave influences in Sacramento throughout the early-to-mid eighties. The band was led by Johnny Pride on guitar and vocals. He came from the Athens, Georgia music scene and was friends with R.E.M. and the B-52's. Other members included Curtis Mick-Hillier on keyboards, Greg Doughty on bass and James Otto on drums. After the band was successful playing regular live shows at places such as the Oasis Ballroom and releasing a vinyl album called Up Up Side Side that sold well locally, Johnny Pride moved to Los Angeles in the early nineties to front a similar rock band, Pride In Peril. While in Los Angeles, he appeared in the Oliver Stone film The Doors with his band. The Features continued to play Sacramento reunion shows in the 2000s with Steel Breeze members Waylin Carpenter on guitar, Vinnie Pantileoni on bass and Curtis Blankenship on drums. Below is a series of SacTV interviews with The Features. Here's a Playlist Research interview with Johnny Pride from 2015.
