Read about the Sacramento Local Music Scene at Playlist Research The Darwins The Darwins were a Sacramento rock band in the 1990s-2000s. They were originally called Mature Innocence and made recordings in the early 90s. By the time they were featured on the KWOD CD Overflow in 1995, they took on the name Darwins to match their contributed track title "Nature Sets Its Own Law." The song gained airplay on the station both on the local show and around the clock. The original lead singer was Jon Murray. Other members included Eric Murray, John Young, Brian Crane and George Peterburs. In 2000 "No One Listens" became a stand out track on Sacramento's first internet station, SacLive. The track featured John Young on vocals and Jennifer Steele on backup vocals. John and Jennifer worked as part of a radio morning team at oldies station KHYL Cool 101 in the late 90s. John brought in his guitar to lead the team with oldies covers. During the late 90s The Darwins performed regularly in Roseville. In the 2020s John Young performs with Roseville band Vino Banditos and has appeared as the drummer on tracks by Sunsetrip. Here is a list of songs recorded by The Darwins:
