Read about the Sacramento Local Music Scene at Playlist Research Barbi Benton Barbi Benton (born Barbara Lynn Klein) was from New York City but went to Rio Americano High School during the 1960s. She then went to UCLA and became a popular entertainer in the late sixties as a Playboy model and regular TV country singer on the show Hee Haw, a show that ran on CBS from 1969 to 1971. She was Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's significant other from 1969 to 1976, then she married a real estate developer in 1979. During the seventies she broadened her career to include several TV appearances, movies and music. As a country singer, she reached the country top five in 1975 with "Brass Buckles." She appeared on American Bandstand around that time. Later that year she had another country hit with Mickey Gilley called "Roll You Like a Wheel." Three of her albums made the national top 40 on the Billboard 200. On her third album Something New, she began a shift toward pop music but her singles from then on failed to reach the Hot 100. One of her biggest hits, "Ain't That Just The Way," was number one in Sweden for 10 weeks in 1977, but did get much exposure elsewhere. Her final 1988 album was considered new age. A cover version of the song became a hit in multiple European countries for R&B singer Lutricia McNeal in the late nineties. By the end of the eighties Barbi became less of a public figure and focused more on family life. Here is a tracklist of songs from the 1975 vinyl album Barbi Doll on Playboy Records:
