Musical History of
Tattooed Love Dogs

The Tattooed Love Dogs have performed every decade in Sacramento since the 1980s. In the 90s they had hits on local alternative station KWOD 106.5. In the 2020s they continue to deliver rootsy rock and roll with country flavors. They have developed a loyal following over the years that has become familiar with their catalog. As one of Sacramento's longest running bands, their music is worth a listen, especially if you're in the mood for an upbeat party.
Tattooed Love Dogs - Happy Now
The Tattooed Love Dogs made a memorable appearance at Old Ironsides on April 3, 1999 for their CD release party of Oklahomadejaneiro. "Happy Now" from the album features the entire band led by Mike Blanchard and Vincent Montoya. It's become one of their signature uplifting melodic rockers. Scott George adds colorful leads in this crowd-pleasing live performance.
Tattooed Love Dogs - Place To Run
"Place To Run" could've been a national hit had a few things been different in the radio industry. The song is powerful enough to stand up as one of the city's all-time best tunes. It was written by Mike Blanchard, Vinnie Montoya, bassist Peter Gandesbery and drummer Larry Schiavone. Scott George adds guitar. The video opens with Dave Whitaker, who engineered, mixed and mastered the album at his recording facility, Studio Z.
Tattooed Love Dogs - Sea To Shining Sea
This performance at Old Ironsides on April 3, 1999 showcases everything about the band that has made them a long lasting local favorite: great vocals, harmonies, musicianship, songwriting and the party atmosphere it creates. By the mid-nineties they enjoyed regular airplay on alternative station KWOD with "Sea to Shining Sea" and other tracks.
Decades of Tattooed Love Dogs
Buried deep in Sacramento's history are many other Americana-sounding bands, but not that many can claim the consistent loyal following that Tattooed Love Dogs have enjoyed over the decades. Each of the members have dabbled in other bands as well. The band seems committed to longevity. Here they are playing at Old Ironsides on September 10, 2021.
