Local concert promoter Jerry Perry, who made Cattle Club a happening venue in the 1980s and 1990s,
published the local music scene resource Alive & Kicking from 1991 through 2008. The cover
stories often accompanied exclusive interviews with the artist. It was the leading source of information
about the local music scene, such as finding out about artists, dates, venues and recordings.
