Riverside Chat #51: 2024 Review of Sacramento Radio InterviewsThis compilation video of 2024 SacTV interviews by Alex Cosper features segments from Sacramento radio personalities Dave Williams, Kitty O'Neal and Pat Martin. Dave worked at top 40 radio stations KROY and KNDE in the 70s then KFBK in the 80s. Kitty continues to do the afternoon show at KFBK and is vocalist for the local band Skyler's Pool. Pat did a long-running midday show at KRXQ (98 Rock) and most recently KSEG (The Eagle) before his retirement. He now focuses on crafting abstract paintings. |
Riverside Chat #50: No More Free Parking DowntownAlex Cosper talks about how 2024 was the year the city council suffered a major budget shortfall, so local officials discontinued free parking downtown and midtown on Sundays. Alex did some exploring and found free places to park near the Sacramento River in West Sacramento. As a Christmas gift, he has made a free video on YouTube for his music project Sunsetrip with a song called "Time Tunnels" included in this episode. |
Riverside Chat #49: New Sac Mayor McCarty to Decide on City Manager ContractKevin McCarty was sworn in as Sacramento's 57th mayor on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. One of his first major decisions will involve renewing or discontinuing city manager Howard Chan's contract. Chan has faced criticism from the community for his enormous salary, which is over three times the mayor's salary and twice the California governor's salary. He actually earns as much as the president of the United States, which is $400,000. |
Riverside Chat #48: No Sac Mayor Winner After 3 WeeksLocal vote counts can stretch out for weeks after an election, especially in large cities. Three weeks after the 2024 Sacramento Mayor's race, the vote count is still too close to call. Kevin McCarty, however, appears to have a strong enough lead at 50-49% to be the eventual winner. As of November 24, 2024, McCarty has about 93,000 votes versus Dr. Flojaune Cofur's 90,000 votes. It will require an enormous surge for her to take the lead. The official certification date is December 3. |
Riverside Chat #47: Value of Gold, Bitcoin and Info-tunes in Late 2024SacTV host Alex Cosper predicted gold would be the better investment this year back in March, along with history of gold and the California gold rush - how it became a template for modern economic bubbles. He explains how following the election of Trump, Bitcoin hit a new all-time high while gold fell from its all-time high. "Time Tunnels" will be a Sunsetrip album he releases within the next year that contains info-tunes, which are songs containing useful information. |
Riverside Chat #46: 2024 Election for President, Sacramento MayorDonald Trump regained the White House in the 2024 election while the race for Sacramento mayor was up in the air several days later. The votes may take weeks to count, but as of Thursday, November 7, 2024 Kevin McCarty held a 55 to 45% lead over Dr. Flo Cofur. SacTV host Alex Cosper compares the 2024 election with a century earlier as an historic note. |
Riverside Chat #45: Halloween Special: Treats, Tricks and PoliticsHere's the 2024 Halloween edition of another riverside chat by Alex Cosper at the American River. It features the spooky characters Dr. Nancy Skullivan and Peter Pumpkinbrain and mixes in political inquiries concerning the 2024 presidential election. The main theme of this humorous satire is that democrats and republicans create a lot of horror-based political theater through mainstream media. |
Riverside Chat #44: Seeing Through Fake Gurus OnlineFake gurus can be found all over the internet as SacTV host Alex Cosper provides some examples. Elon Musk's recent showcase of his futuristic "robotaxi" called into question how far he is on the project. Investors were very disappointed with his lack of details about the electric taxi for transporting 20 people as well as his "Optimus" robot, which he said would be available for the public to purchase by 2028 for $20,000. The plunging of his stock raised the question of his status as a cultural guru. |
Riverside Chat #43: 60s Music for Hagan Community Park EventAlex Cosper chats from the American River near Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova prior to DJ'ing a ski anniversary party celebrating with sixties costumes and music. He talks about why sixties music is more universal for all ages than later decades. This party was held on September 21, 2024. |

It features his artistic paintings following his retirement from radio in 2023. Alex Cosper interviews Pat about how he crafts his abstract geometric art, which he now sells to fans. This video begins with clips from the longer interview about Pat's radio career. |
Interview with Retired Radio Personality Pat MartinPat Martin set a record in Sacramento for longest run in the same time slot at the same radio station, which was KRXQ (98 Rock) for 33 years. He then moved to mornings at KSEG (96.9 The Eagle) for a few years before retiring in 2023. This interview was conducted at his home (with his black cat "Bowie") on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Pat talks about his radio career highlights, particularly his role in encouraging Tesla to regroup for a 98 Rock show. Proving there's life after radio, he also shares his geometric abstract art. |
Riverside Chat #42: Review of the Harris-Trump DebateAlex Cosper reviews the presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Ex-President Donald Trump on September 10, 2024. The debate was broadcast on ABC from 6p-9p PT. Although pro-conservative websites overwhelmingly claimed victory for Trump, his DJT stock took a sharp dive the next morning, indicating Wall Street professionals thought Harris won the debate. |
Riverside Chat #41: Remembering the Sac Bee vs Union RivalryNewspapers have gone through extreme changes over the past few decades. From the Gold Rush era thru the 1990s Sacramento had two major newspapers: The Bee and The Union. The Union folded in 1994 then the Bee's owners McClatchy filed bankruptcy in 2020. The Bee's parent company McClatchy is now owned by Wall Street hedge fund Chatham Asset Management. Alex Cosper reflects on what it was like to deliver both papers as a teen in the late seventies, plus he gives historical info on Eleanor McClatchy's friendship with JFK. |
Riverside Chat #40: Left/Right Media ConfusionMainstream media has helped alter the definitions of "left" and "right" political ideologies, creating confusion among voters who link these terms to political parties. SacTV.com host Alex Cosper explains the origin of the left/right paradigm and how it differs in context from the evolution of the two-party system. He explains how media has created misunderstanding about what these terms mean. |
Riverside Chat #39: 50th Anniversary of Sacramento Union Headline: Nixon ResignsSacTV.com Riverside Chat host Alex Cosper celebrates the 50th anniversary of the resignation of President Richard Nixon. He was forced to resign on August 9, 1974 to avoid impeachment and loss of support from both political parties. A week prior to the announcement, Nixon told the press he wasn't going to quit. But a smoking gun tape of a White House conversation revealed Nixon participated in a cover-up criminal activity by trying to block a federal investigation into his campaign re-election committee. Nixon then accepted a pardon from Ford for "crimes he may have committed as president." |
Riverside Chat #38: Embracing Nature and TechnologyCalifornia continues to see wildfires in the summer. Alex Cosper looks at the ten worst wildfires in state history and finds that six of them were created by nature via lightning. The other four were created by humans. He discusses how society needs to embrace certain technology as long as it doesn't harm nature. In order words, nature should be a higher priority to humans than technology. People should learn about the wonders of nature's, which already solves many human problems without technology. |

The video concludes with Alex interviewing Rick about radio and mobile sound work. |
Riverside Chat #35: Let's Ban Fireworks and Celebrate July 4th Other WaysIndependence Day should be celebrated in a way that doesn't damage the environment. Fireworks, unfortunately, pose health threats for the population and should be limited or banned. While Los Angeles and San Diego ban the use of fireworks completely, Sacramento leaders need to consider the same policy. Fireworks have been a long tradition, but each year scientists learn more about how they pollute the air and cause human illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. |
Riverside Chat #34: Review of the Awful Biden-Trump DebateThis riverside chat hosted by Alex Cosper is critical of both presidential candidates who faced off on CNN June 27, 2024. Biden's performance was particularly weak, as CNN revealed their instant poll gave Trump the victory. It's led to a discussion that Biden should be replaced on the ticket. Biden will celebrate his 82nd birthday November 20, as many even in his own party are urging him to leave the race, due to frequently showing forgetfulness in public events. |
Riverside Chat #33: Why Cornel West Will Not Win the PresidencyCornel West grew up in Sacramento before becoming a national figure who taught at Harvard. West is running as an independent candidate for President of the United States in the 2024 election. This riverside chat hosted by Alex Cosper explains why Dr. West and other third party candidates have no chance to win the White House. It has to do with not having the massive funds to compete with the two-party system that spends millions on media campaigns. |
