What Music Means to Caron Vikre "Video of the Day" review by Alex Cosper on November 6, 2013

Caron Vikre discusses how and why she became closely involved with music, leading to recording several albums over the course of over two decades. Aside from her love for music, she was attracted to the aspect that art can be a tool for problem solving. She thinks that music can help school academics since it's both emotional and analytical. She reflects on her 1980 Sacramento radio hit "Carry Me Back" under the name Crayon and how at the time the whole idea of recording and live musical performance was very new to her. In fact, she didn't even know the band that was put together for her by producer David Houston, who later worked with national hit group Club Nouveau. When she did her first musical show at Sac State the song had already been a hit on the radio, so it attracted a remarkably large crowd, which is unhead of for most local artists anywhere.
