Harley White, Jr. reflects more on his time as a signed artist with Island Records and Elektra Records.
He talks about the release of the Papa's Culture record and what he learned about the music industry.
The experience was life changing in many ways, Harley recalls. He said he was happy with the eclectic
sound that had crafted. He said as the album was being finished up he learned that Chris Blackwell
would be selling Island Records. Harley points out that not that many artists of the same period went on
to have longevity. He talks about how opportunities dried up for artists as the music industry shifted
away from developing artists. This interview is the fifth of seven interviews recorded with Harley on October 23, 2013.
