History of the Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings have had ups and downs since coming to the city from Kansas City in 1985. Although
it took until 1996 for the Kings to make the playoffs, Sacramento was loyal to their first professional
major league sports team from the beginning. Sellout after sellout, the loyalty helped fuel team spirit,
as the Kings became one of the most consistently successful basketball clubs in the NBA. It paid off
particularly in the 2001-2002 season when the Kings had the best record in the league (61-21) and had
a shot at going all the way to the finals, only to be stopped by the Los Angeles Lakers. After the 2006
season things began to unravel as Coach RIck Adelman's contract expired and was not renewed. They began
having losing seasons and missed the playoffs as coaches came and went. Then talk escalated that the
Maloofs were looking to move the team to another city. This video chronicles the story of Kings history
from 1985 through 2013.
