the discussion is about public radio and how it's finally becoming recognized as the most meaningful form of radio.
Mike says that public radio news, such as Capital Public Radio offers more in depth stories compared to commercial radio news. Musically, he points
out that there are more opportunities for indie artists on public radio. Mike talks about his background in
He was originally from Los Angeles then spent ten years in Chicago, where he fell in love
with the eclectic rock station WXRT. It was their adventurous programming that influenced a lot of Mike's ideas about
radio for his show. "Rock can be as big or as portable as you want it to," says Mike, who is a big fan of rock
from all eras. "I've had people right here in the very studio that you're sitting in armed with nothing but
acoustic guitar, voice and some really well-constructed songs and that rocks harder than some stuff I've seen
on big stages."
