Experimental Pop and the Mellotron
SacTV.com "Video of the Day" review by Alex Cosper on December 15, 2012

This video segment of the book signing presentation of Where Have All the Pop Stars Gone? focuses on interviews by authors Marti Smiley Childs and Jeff March of members from The Moody Blues. Mike Pinder actually worked as a tester of new electronics and tested the Mellotron before it became popular and before he became a member of The Moody Blues. Jeff gives some background and Marti reads an excerpt from the book that reveals their unlikely path to succeed before the band formed. The book chronicles several other pop stars and what they've done since the seventies, including The Grass Roots, The Buckinghams, Sam & Dave, Ray Stevens, Bobby Goldsboro and Donnie Brooks. This segment marks the fourth in a series of six videos of the co-authors' presentation at the Avid Reader in Davis on December 8, 2012. The two writers run a publishing service in Davis called Editpros.com.
