Learning a musical instrument can be very difficult and frustrating for people since it's so different
for most other activities. But Sacramento indie musician Jay Shaner gives
tips on how to speed up the learning process on both piano and guitar. He's been playing piano since a
very young age and over time has become more of a guitarist. We talk about fingering, scales and mixing
scales up to make it sound more interesting for the beginner. Jay also mentions how innovative musicianship
differs from learning traditional musicianship. Artists like Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan went against the
grain to venture into new musical territory, influencing completely new directions in music.
