Ken Koenig's Song of the Season: "Winter of Innocence"
SacTV.com "Video of the Day" review by
Alex Cosper on Feb. 17, 2012
Ken Koenig captures the spirit of the season
with his song "Winter of Innocence." The tune has a captivating, relaxed melody and thoughtful lyrics, making
it a standout gem on the eclectic side of the Sacramento scene. Ken mixes a broad range of styles into
his overall repertoire that encompasses pop, rock, jozz, blues, soul and country. His frequent live performances
follow diverse set lists as he touches on various genres and eras, mixing covers with originals. Ken performs Saturday, Feb. 18 at
Fannie Anne's Saloon in Old Sacramento.
Even though the video is simply one slide that promotes the single throughout the song, this video represents
an acceptable way to showcase original music on YouTube. Not all songs need videos to tell their stories. When a song
is already well-written, well-performed and well-produced, all it really needs is an audience. A slide
show or just one still image provide simple ways to showcase a song without losing focus on the lyrics and melody.
The song tells an uplifiting love story about a happy growing relationship over a subtle groove and cheerful horns.
Ken Koenig's music is available on iTunes and CDBaby.
