Sister Crayon is a Sacramento band fronted by Terra Lopez that has quickly moved up the local ladder with high profile shows
like this video, which captures them headlining SubMerge Magazine's anniversary show Dec 16, 2011 at Ace of Spades. The event
marked the local indie music publication's 100th issue. Sister Crayon's debut music video called
"(in) Reverse" has been featured on MTV's LOGO network and the band toured the US and UK in 2011. The band is signed to
Manimal Vinyl Records, an experimental label based in L.A. with Sony Music distribution. The band's debut album Bellow was released
in February 2011.
This video shot by Jim Bailey provides clear audio of an excellent performance that
showcases the band's musical and vocal strengths. The music has layers of imaginative
keyboards and solid rhythm to create an ethereal dance/rock atmosphere, which is something
we haven't seen a lot of in Sacramento. The surreal nature of the emotionally-powered
wandering melodies takes us on an adventure beyond the norm. The blue lighting adds
mystique to the colorful and dynamic innovative sounds.
